What's Happening at WBS this Week with Kahikatea?

Kahikatea is getting concrete and the digger making new concrete. The builders are making a new classroom so it can be amazing.  The builder is using new wood.
     Hannah Rose

At school Kahikatea is getting changed. Some of the old classroom is getting changed into a new classroom instead of an old classroom. The trucks and diggers, dig the dirt and lift up the dirt and then put it on the ground. The trucks get some dirt and put it in their truck and then they drive it where the digger is and then they tip it up and pour it out.

I love trucks. When trucks dig, I like it. I wish it can stay in New Zealand which it is. When they are not at school I think they practise building.

At school Kahikatea classroom is getting changed. Some builders are making a change on it. They are putting new concrete in it. There is a truck and a digger working together to get the job done. There is a lot of dirt on the ground!

Here is a digger with a cab and a scoop that is up high as can be. Here is the digger with it's scoop down low pouring dirt down into dirt. It is at the building site doing lots of work . Here is the diggers scoop smoothing the dirt out.

Today there was a truck by Kahikatea  that had dirt in it. The digger got the dirt out of the truck and dropped it where the other dirt was. Then the builder flattened  the dirt out with his rake. The builders have broken one of Kahikatea's  wall down.
     Sam

A truck arrived, it came and dropped some dirt off. It dropped dirt on the other dirt. It lifted it's trailer  up and made the dirt fall off.
     Gianni

On Friday a truck had dirt to dump, it dumped it. Then the dumper loaded up. Next we saw a class and a builder was building inside it. Last the digger dug the dirt.
     Lucas

There was dirt coming out of the truck so the big digger can dig it back up. The truck put it's big container down and slowly.

Do we need a school Garden?

Last term Pohutukawa were learning about plants and insects. We have our hanging gardens up and have planted some bean plants outside our class.
With our new writing genre, opinion writing, we have been thinking about if we need a school garden.
Here are some of our classes ideas:

I think we need a school garden so we can keep our school clean and also so we know how to keep beans.
     Gianni

I think we need to have a school garden because it makes the school look nice. It also helps us to learn to keep the school clean and we will have food to eat.
     Azaria

I think yes, we need a school garden because you can watch it grow and enjoy it as it grows new leaves. It is fun and beautiful.
     Shay

We need a school garden because it makes it look nice to everyone, everyday. It also makes the school look healthy and nice.
     Harry

We need a school garden because we can eat beans and lots of other food we grow.
     Mason

We need a school garden because we can have food to eat and it will make our school look nice and clean so new people can come to our school.
     Tawakura

I think we should have a school garden because it will have lots of pretty plants and food to eat. It will also make your garden look very clean too. It is good to have school gardens at school because it could be a plant or even a flower plant too. It is very good to eat beans of those plants because it can make you healthy.
     Kaydia

I think we need a school garden because it means we can grow lots of different plants. We can grow lots of food, so our school looks nice and tidy.
     Sam

I think we need a school garden because we'll have lots of food to eat. We'll  also have a nice garden. But we'll have to learn to keep our garden clean and tidy.
     Lucas

We need a school garden so we can have food to eat. A garden will make people come to our school.
     Ben

I want a nice garden so we can have food to eat and make the school look nice.

Where in the world is Matua Andrew?

Last term as part of our Random Act of Kindness for Kiwican we (Karaka) gave Matua Andrew a gold medal for being a great teacher. He promised to take it with him when he went to the Surf Lifesaving World Champs in France.

He has sent us a couple of pictures of his adventures - can you guess where he and his gold medal are?
